They are the fundamental components in this process. The signals are received by the satellite sent from the broadcasting centre and are processed and compressedtherein a suitable form to be re-sent to the earth in a way as acceptable by the dishes.
The file at the broadcast centre goes through a process called encoding. Here the high-quality video stream goes through a MPEG encoder and reduces the size of the file by removing any redundant and irrelevant data from it. It happens in 3 ways:Intraframe;predicted frame, bi-directional frame.
After encoding, encryption happens in order to safeguard them from free access. Encryption allows the data to be only decrypted using certain signals and tools, thus eliminating unnecessary free usage of the satellite communication.
The work of modulators is to enhance the signal that is transmitted, to regain any signal which might be lost during the transmission process.
These devices receive the signals sent from satellites and transmit to the viewer’s device, ie TV. The Dish receives the signals first and sends it to the receiving equipment. The dish can only ‘receive’ the data; it can’t do anything apart from this.
DTH or Satellite Receivers:
The rest of the work is carried by the receiver – DTH receiving equipment’s that decrypt the data and transmit them to the TV.
Sometimes the dishes receive signals from more than one satellite, which reduces the quality of the information stored. Hence the LNB are used to enhance the signals and give a quality output.
The job of the receiver is as follows:
Decrypt the encrypted signal
Converting the digital signals into analogformat that the standard TV can recognise
Extract the individual channels from the sea of info obtained.
Tracking of pay-per-view programs of customers and periodically rings a computer at the providers HQ for payment information.
